Main Terminal Facilities

Terminal KMS has cutting edge facilities for the regasification complying with international safety standards.

The main facilities of the LNG Terminal are: berthing jetty and unloading arms located in the Jetty Area; two LNG Storage Tanks with possibility to expand with two more units; Pumps, Vaporizers, BOG Compressors and Metering Station in the Process Area; Seawater Intake and Discharge System and Synergy Water System. There is a Flare Stack as well.

Onshore facilities were constructed by Samsung Engineering Co., Ltd. from Korea, and the Civil Works for the Offshore facilities were the scope of TOA Corporation (TOA) from Japan.

Basic LNG DATA
What is LNG?

Natural gas is the cleanest fossil fuel available today. Natural gas is colorless, odorless and non-toxic. LNG is natural gas that has been super cooled to a liquid state at -160°C (-260°F). Liquefying natural gas reduces its volume by more than 600 times. Natural Gas is not explosive or flammable in its liquid state.

What happens when LNG is warmed?
As a vapor, natural gas mixed with air is flammable only in the concentration mixtures of 5% to 15%. As LNG vapor warms above -110°C (-160°F), it become lighter than air and will rise and disperse rather than collect near the ground. However, it is not explosive unless flammable concentrations of gas is produced.
